FRIEND FRIDAY

FRIEND FRIDAY – INDIAN STYLE

TGIF everybody. 🙂

Amy and I hosted our first Friend Friday dinner.  It was Indian inspired dishes and we had two of our good friends, Leah and Brittney, come to enjoy it with us.  Good food and good company made for a very enjoyable time.

Amy is a budding chef.  Her skills are terrific and she has a real talent for taking a recipe and making it her own.  I got to her house early to help with the meal prep but pretty much all I could do was stand back in awe and watch her work her magic.  I made myself useful by taking pictures and cheering her on.

The first thing she worked on was Indian carrots.  Seasoned and ready to go into the oven at just the right time, she moved on to the next task,

After she browned the meatballs, she popped them in the oven to finish cooking.  Then came time to work on the Chicken Saagwala.  First you have to heat the spices, the aroma of which was interesting and took our breath away – literally. We were coughing and snorting until we opened the back door to let in some fresh air.  By the time the dish was finished though, it was well worth the effort.  The flavor was amazing and boy, did it have a kick to it. 🙂

When the meatballs came out of the oven, the carrots went in.  Time to make the creamy sauce for the meatballs.  It turned out that this was my favorite dish.  The sauce was spicy but very smooth.  It was a true delicacy for me. The finished dishes were set on the table and we all oohed and ahhed over them.

Amy had one more trick up her sleeve – mango pudding for dessert.  It was light, bright and very delightful.

All in all it was a total success.  Neither of our guests had had these dishes before and they were real troopers to try them just on our word they were safe to eat. 🙂

Amy has already posted the recipes for each of the dishes on the blog today.  Give them a look-see and let us know if you try them.  I heartily recommend the carrots, the lamb meatballs in creamy sauce and the mango pudding.  To be honest, the chicken Saagwala was just a little too spicy for me.  But I tried it and ate all that was on my plate.

I hope you enjoy the rest of your Friday.

Bye for now.

Debbie
