Something Has Got to Change

Good morning, all.

Have you taken a close, hard look at your lifestyle? Do you do/eat things that you know are not healthy choices, but they are your favorites? You know, things like seasonal Blue Bell ice cream, hot dogs, hamburgers, chips, dips, your Mom’s homemade chocolate pie (truly a bite of Heaven), white chocolate anything – you catch my drift. Do you tell yourself that just one serving won’t hurt but then lose count of how many servings you’ve had?

Well, you (and me) have not made a complete change in our way of thinking. We made some good changes but not necessarily the hard changes. I found this cool quote by Steve Maraboli, “It’s not just about losing weight; it’s about losing the lifestyle and mindset that got you there.” This is one quote that is going in my textbook.

This hit me right between the eyes. I have made plenty of changes in my lifestyle and eating habits but some of them turned out to be temporary instead of permanent. You know the definition of insanity; doing the same things but expecting different results. I’m guilty of this, how about you?

Sugar is my down fall. I justify that eating real sugar is better than artificial. But the truth is, for me it is just as deadly as the artificial stuff.

Yesterday I had a doctor’s appointment and he praised me on how good my numbers looked until he saw my weight. You know what hit the fan. I have gained 15 pounds in 8 weeks. Wow! I had no idea. And I know it is strictly from sugar.

Well, that was the wake up call that I needed. I need to get serious about avoiding sugar. It is such a dangerous substance for everyone. Do the research for yourself and see if you don’t agree.

So today’s baby step is make a lasting lifestyle change – be strict about not eating sugar. Be real and quit fooling yourself that you’re making good choices.
