Hard Cider Braised Brats

It is soon to be October and if you are German like me, you love Oktoberfest! These yummy delights will give you a great bite of flavor. I got this recipe from Ciarra Hannah, The Frugal Paleo Cookbook. I did add a thickening agent for the sauce, other than that—nothing needed to be added to this lip-smacking main course.

4 brats
1 onion cut in thin long strips
1 bottle of hard apple cider
2 tbs arrowroot flour
Parsley for garnish
1. In a large frying pan, spray pan with a little oil or use a paper towel to wipe some oil in the bottom. Heat pan and add brats. Cook brats without turning on two sides for 5 to 7 minutes.
2. Add cut up onions to top of brats, then pour in cider. Do a quick stir and cook on med high for about 20 minutes.
3. At the 20 min mark, take out about ½ cup of broth and add 2 tbs arrowroot flour and stir till well combined. Pour mixture into pan. Bring to a boil and let sauce thicken to your desired consistency.
4. Garnish with chopped parsley. Serve! I served this with a salad and mashed butternut squash. It was so so so good!
