EASIER WITH BABY STEPS

Good Tuesday, everybody.

Amy and I were talking just yesterday about baby steps.  So many  people complement her on her amazing transformation and they marvel at how she was able to do it.  To them it looks like she has made all of her changes over night and she has become this healthier and wiser person.  She always tells them that she has done it through  “baby steps.”

It is so true.  When you decide to become healthier, slimmer, financially independent or whatever, you just don’t wake up one day and everything is completed.  No more excess fat, no unhealthy food touches your mouth or all of your debt is taken care of.  No, it’s a process.  You start at point A and you continue to point Z by going through the whole alphabet, one letter at a time.  And most often you can not skip any of the letters. Like they say, “slow and steady wins the race.”

And that brings us back to baby steps.  If you are new to our site, you do not know some of the many baby steps we have already discussed.  If you like you can go back through some of my Tuesday posts and read about them but if you don’t want to do that you can start right here. 🙂

Today’s baby step is to give up artificial sweeteners.  I always start with this one because it is so important.  Study after study has proven that artificial sweeteners (such as sucralose, aspartame, saccharin, and others), do not benefit your weight loss.  On the contrary, people who use artificial sweeteners usually gain weight.  Why? One very good reason is that these sweeteners act just like sugar – they are even sweeter than sugar – and they are as addictive as sugar.  Therefore you are not satisfied and you eat more. Artificial sweeteners are just another carb that does your body as much harm as processed sugar. Do your own research and see for yourself.

Also, artificial sweeteners are just that, artificial.  Your body does not really know what to do with artificial ingredients and therefore stores the excess  as fat. These sweeteners put unnecessary stress on your liver (which tries to process toxins and foreign substances out of our systems) and your kidneys.  Your kidneys recognizes and uses water.  It does not like the chemicals of artificial sweeteners.

So, if you do nothing else for your self, become a label reader and skip anything with artificial sweeteners.  Make it your first baby step on the road to a healthier you.
